NSW - 0029 - Bridport Southwestern - Synopsis

NSW - 0029 - BRMA British Layouts - "Bridport Southwestern" LSWR/GWR Late 1800's DC 4mm/EM & Broadgauge 1:76
Gallery0029 - Description

This unique, mixed-gauge, point-to-point shunting layout represents an English scene in the year 1890. The principal railway company represented is the London South Western with its standard-gauge tracks.

Also represented is the Great Western Railway with its broad- (7ft) gauge tracks. This has required some complicated pointwork to be constructed that incorporates both gauges.

The layout also features, uniquely, a recorded commentary with steam-train sound effects, to which the operators have to synchronise.

Last, but not least, a large number of working, mechanical devices have been included so as to add interest to the operation.

All the locomotives, 90% of the rolling stock, all the trackwork and all the buildings and structures are scratch built.

The layout, including buildings and structures, took about one year to build.

The locomotives and rolling stock range in age from 2 to more than 50 years.
