 13 Goods and passenger vehicles that were retired from regular service were converted for departmental use. An SHG goods brakevan has been converted to a works van for the Electrical Branch. An “S” truck, open wagon has been downgraded to departmental use while the CX express lavatory carriage is being used to provide workmans accommodation. |
 14 When the Sydney suburban railway lines were electrified many 30 class tank locomotives were converted to 30T class tender locomotives. These locomotives were widely spread over country branchlines and led to the withdrawal of locomotives such as the 12 and 19 classes. |
 15 Many of the open wagons are fitted with removeable loads as illustrated in these two photographs. The loads are constructed on a black styrene base and can be moved between wagons. The layout is operated to a sequence and wagon cards list the wagons in a train and the consist that is required to be assembled when the train is shunted. |
